(10) Born in Madison Co, AL and came to Texas in 1848 with Vann, Glover, Bishop wagon train. Married Irena Glover and moved to Zephyr in 1863.
(12 & 14) Killed in a spring storm when lightening came down the chimney and struck father and son in may 1905 but inscriptions read 1906.
Old Zephyr Cemetery
copied from stone July 1974.Located on the original site of Zephyr before a cyclone wiped out the town in 1909. It is about 1 1/2 miles due East of present Zephyr and on what was the Smith Ranch in 1974. There are supposed to be 3 or 4 other people buried but the only stone, which is lying flat and set in concrete is for the father of William Jordan Vann.
1. Lazarus Vann - borned 1784 NC died 15 DEC 1863
The inscription reads "Tho his heart is stilled his memory is not forgotton" and there is a picture of clasped hands beneath.
