John Wesley Matlock (1847-1928) was born near Safe, Missouri. It is believed that he was the son of George Washington Matlock and Sarah Copeland. Permelia Glenn Matlock (1849-1934) was born in Phelps Co., Missouri. It is believed that she was the daughter of Andrew Jackson David Glenn and Elizabeth Ann Branstetter. John Wesley Matlock and Permelia Glenn were married on Nov. 4, 1866 in Phelps Co., Missouri. It is said that they first moved to Ellis Co., Texas. They probably arrived in Brown Co. in the early 1880's. According to family history, they owned land on Pecan Bayou. Both John and Permelia died in Brownwood, Texas.
