James H. Wood
James H. Wood, son of Miles Wood and Francis Atkins, relocated to Zephyr, Texas, in Brown County from Weakley County, Tennessee. He was married to Rhoda Elizabeth Cobb. Rhoda Cobb was the daughter of John Clark Cobb and Mary Ellen Bates. The Cobbs moved to Limestone County, Texas from Alabama, where Rhoda was born on November 7, 1877. Pinkney Cobb and Mary Ellen Davis were the parents of John Clark Cobb. By 1880, John Clark Cobb had migrated west to Brown County as per the 1880 census records.
James H. Wood is listed in the Postmasters and Post Offices of Brown County, Texas, 1858-1930, as being a Postmaster of Zephyr, Texas from August 26, 1904 until Toll G. Beckham took over February 20, 1915.
James and Rhoda had two children, Ina Rebecca and James Clark. Ina Rebecca was born November 17, 1902 and died April 12, 1992. James Clark was born May 7, 1905 and at this time there is no further information.
James H. Wood and his wife, Rhoda, are buried in the Zephyr Cemetery in Zephyr, Texas. On James's headstone is: James H. Wood born-Feb. 27, 1868, died-Sept. 14, 1946. Rhoda E. Wood born Nov. 7, 1877, died Oct. 22, 1941.
