Welcome
Duval County is in the southern region of Texas and the county seat is San Diego. San Diego lies about 60 miles due west
of downtown Corpus Christi. As of the 2010 census, its population was 11,782. The county was created in 1858 from parts
of Live Oak, Nueces and Starr counties and organized in 1880. It's named for Burr H. Duval, a soldier in the Texas
Revolution who died in the Goliad Massacre.
