In 1848 the land east of the center of the Rio Grande become a part of the United States and was called Texas. This is not a complete list.1870 - Mission School
Was opened by Parson Tays.
1883 - Public School
Was opened with 53 students attending.
1885 - Negro School
Opens in the Colored Methodist Church.
1884 - Central School
1885 - Central High School
Opens on the second floor of the Central School.
1886 - Douglass School
A Black school opened in the church. Clossed in 1955.
1887 - El Paso High School?
Already open?.
1903 - Sacred Heart Schoold
Opens at Myrtle and St Vrain.
1905 - Ignatius School
Opens at Park and 2nd.
1916 - El Paso High School
Building was started in 1914.
1920 - Ysleta Parochial School
Opens it's doors.

1922 - Austin High School
Opens to students
1922 - Schools under construction
Bowieand Burleson.
1925 - El Paso Vocational School
Opens on N. Oregon and W. Rio Grande.
1927 - Bowie High School
Bowie Grammer School becomes a High School.
1929 - Ysleta High School
Bowie Grammer School becomes a High School.
1930 - Zach White School
