Franklin county is located in the northeastern corner of Texas - one county south of Oklahoma and 3 counties west of Arkansas. The county
seat is Mount Vernon, almost in the center of the county. Franklin is tall and thin - less than 11 miles wide! In a state that has counties
larger than some whole states, that's pretty narrow. Beginning in the north and proceeding clockwise, we're bounded by
Red River,
Titus,
Camp,
Wood,
Hopkins,
Delta and
Lamar counties. (Delta only counts because it's pointed on the east side and squeezes in between Lamar and Hopkins.
