Waelder New Era, Friday, Feb. 21, 1913 Transcribed from microfilm by Aurale Huff A.S. McCROREY DEAD After an illness of two months with pleurisy Mr. A.S. McCrorey died at his home in the Elm Grove community on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at the age of 72 years and 6 months and the remains were laid to rest in the Elm Grove cemetery on Friday under the auspices of the masons. Mr. McCrorey was a veteran of the civil war and one of the very few "old timers" in this community. He came to this community 58 years ago and settled on the place on which he died. He is survived by his wife and eleven children, all but one son and one daughter being at his bedside when the summons came for him to go. To the bereaved relatives the sincere sympathy of a host of friends is extended. -o- The absent son is a member of the Oklahoma legislature and the following is clipped from the Daily House Journal: Resolution No. 80. Whereas, God in his divine wisdom has seen fit to remove from his earthly abode A.S. McCrorey, who departed this life at Flatonia, Texas, on February 13, and Whereas, A.S. McCrorey was the father of one of our most esteemed and highly respected members, therefore Be it resolved that the House of representatives extend their sympathy and condolence and that this resolution be spread upon the Journal of the House and that an engrossed copy be presented to his esteemed member, Mr. A. McCrorey. On motion by Mr. Williams (of Comanche and Cotton) the resolution was adopted.
