WESLEY SMITH

WESLEY SMITH

Our heavenly Father has called to rest our dear Brother in Christ, Brother Wesley Smith. We,
the members of Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church, bow in humble submission to the will of
our Father and say, "Not as I will, but as Thou wilt." (Matthew 26:39).
Brother Smith was born September 19, 1885 and departed this life June 28, 1966; making his
stay on earth 80 years, 9 months and 9 days. Brother Smith was an active and long-time
member of Mt. Zion Church for 55 years. He served Mt. Zion as trustee, deacon, clerk and
treasurer for many years; filling these capacities faithfully and well.
Brother Smith is survived by his wife, Augusta (Malik) Smith of Nixon; one daughter: Mrs.
Annie Young of Cuero; two sons: James Smith of Brownsville and Fred Smith of Nixon; one
brother:  John Smith; one sister: Mrs. Mattie Huckle of Kames City;  fourteen grandchildren;
thirty-five great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. We extend our
deepest sympathy to the family and loved ones. May they be able to say and realize that their
loss is his eternal gain.
Be it resolved that we send a copy of this Resolution to THE BANNER OF LOVE,
a copy to the family, and a copy be entered into our church records.
Written by request of Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church, Nixon, Texas.
