VASSIE DORA HATCHER We, the Primitive Baptist Church of Mt. Zion at Nixon, Texas, have been saddened greatly by the death of our dear and beloved Sister, Vassie Dora Hatcher. We bow in humble submission to the calling of our heavenly Father with whom she is now resting in Peace. Sister Hatcher was born Vassie Dora Underwood on December 11, 1894 near Dothan, in Geneva County, Alabama and passed away on January 29, 1970 in Gonzales, Texas at the age of 75 years, 1 month and 18 days. She was married to Marion Monroe Hatcher on April 02, 1911 at Hartford, Alabama and lived there until 1915, when they came to Texas and lived until 1921, at which time they moved to Shreveport, Louisiana. She and her husband joined the Primitive Baptist Church at an association at Madisonville, Texas in August 1928 and was baptized by Elder R.V. Holman, and were faithful members at Bethel Primitive Baptist Church near Shreveport. In 1941 they moved back to Texas, in Gonzales County and remained here until she was called home. She was always a loving and faithful member, giving her very best at all times. The church was her life, missing only a few meeting days due to illness in her last days. Sister Hatcher is survived by her companion, five sisters, one brother, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends, who will miss her very much. We extend to those loved ones our deepest sympathy and feel that we all know she is basking in the sweet fellowship of Jesus Christ, our Savior, and singing with the angels, there. Be it resolved that we send a copy of this Resolution to THE BANNER OF LOVE, a copy to the family, and a copy be entered into our church records. Written by request of Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church, Nixon, Texas. Elder W.R. Daniel, Moderator Cassie Ayers, Annie Young, Jo Nell Burrier, Committee
