TX., and died August 30, 1934 in
Kimble Co. , TX.. He married (1) MARY ADELINE BROWN December 31, 1874 in
Texas, daughter of ALBERT
BROWN and SUSAN UPTON. She was born January 30, 1858 in Texas, and died
December 20, 1919 in Kimble
County , Tx..
He married (2) LIBBIE RUSH November 30, 1933.
Notes for JOHN WRIGHT COFFEY:
At the age of 15 , we find John working as a cowboy for his father , Rich
Coffey . Rich Coffey has settled at the
mouth of the Concho river where it settles into the Colorado river . This
was a hard working family . The women
taking care of the ranch home & the Coffey men working the cattle .
John Coffey's father's heard had grown to
be over 1200 head . Rich decides to take the cattle to market . Nathaniel
Guest , John's brother in law is in
charge of the heard . William ( Bill ) Coffey , John's brother is in the
remunda with 54 horses . He is 13 years
of age . During this time Indians attacked , taking the heard of cattle
and the horses thus leaving John Coffey ,
wounded . On Christmas the same year the Indians came back driving off
the remaining heard . John Coffey
grew to be a fine young man . He married Mary Adaline Brown in 1874 . He
became a fine & prominet rancher
in Kimble County , Texas . After Mary Adaline's death he remarried Libbie
Rush . He died at the age of 78 .

Mary Adaline was sixteen years of age when she married John Wright Coffey
. John was at the age of 18 .
Together they had seven children . Mary Adaline lived to be 61 years of
age . She died on the little Devil's River
in Kimble County , Texas .
