Welcome
Lavaca County is in the south central region of Texas and the county seat is Hallettsville. As of the 2010 census, its
population was 20,337. The county was created in 1846 (statehood) from parts of Colorado, Gonzales, Jackson, Victoria.
It's named for the Lavaca River.
