Eva
Katherina (Dieschinger) Schuessler
(From The
Mason County News - Friday, Jan 11, 1901 issue on microfilm @ the Mason
Library,September 17, 2002 - Carol Martin)
Grandma Schuessler
Eva Katherina Dieschinger was born Sept. 5, 1810, at Bomfeld,
Wurtemburg, Germany. She died Jan. 9, 1901, at 3 o'clock a.m. She was
married to (Johann) John Adam Schuessler in 1834. The came to Texas in
1845 and resided at Indianola for about 9 months. They then moved to
Fredericksburg where they lived for 5 years, then removing to Cherry
Springs where they lived until the death of Mr. Schuessler, which
occurred Sept. 7, 1884. Since that time she has lived with her son John
and family near Fly Gap. Every year most of her children, grand
chil-dren and great grand children have gathered about her on her
birthday anniversary to make each recurring occasion a pleasure to her,
and though of extreme age she has retained her faculties so well that
she always entered heartily into the pleasures of these gatherings.
At the time of her death her age was 90 years, 4 months and 3
days. She leaves 5 living children, John, Conrad, Jacob, Herman all of
this county and Mrs. Frasch of San Antonio. Her living grandchildren
number 52 and great grand children 68.
The funeral took place Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock,
conducted by Rev. C. Ziehe of the Lutheran church, of which Grandma
Schuessler had long been a mem-ber. The interment was at the family
burying ground near the home.
Her long life of usefulness over, let those following after
emulate her worthy example.
