LOWER WILLOW CREEK CEMETERY
Mason County, Texas
Carol Martin

This listing is from some of my own records, visits to the cemetery, the 'Mason County Historical Book', the book
'One Hundred Years of the Hilda (Bethel) Methodist Church and Parent Organizations',
and the book 'Mason County Graves and Cemeteries'. See Note:
By these records, the oldest burial would be that of Joanna (Lehmberg) Leifeste in 1854.
According to the book 'One Hundred Years of the Hilda (Bethel) Methodist Church and Parent Organizations' - Rev. C. A Grote began visiting his members (of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South) along the Llano River in 1852.
The Lower Willow Creek Methodist Church (a rock building) was built across the creek, from the cemetery in 1868, by one account and demolished in 1920 by another account.

Note: These books may be purchased at the M. Bev Eckert Library (Mason Library) Call 325-347-5446 for details.

LOCATION
3.5 miles East of TX Hwy. 87, 2/10 of a mile (measured from pasture gate) off Lower Willow Creek Rd. -
