Mrs W. B.Ellison was taken sick with pneumonia last week, which resulted
in her death Monday night.

G. L. Burnam is down with pneumonia, but is improving.
Mrs. Hubbard is sick with pneumonia.
See the advertisement of Martin's Hotel. It will have a feed and livery
stable in connection.
J. W. Gamel returned a few days ago from Indian Territory.
Mr C. Crosby is on the sick list.
There is more sickness in Mason county at present than was ever known, but
it ismostly la grippe.

SECOND PG.
The A. & N. railroad it is said will be built to Llano by April or May
and from there it is strongly intimated that it will be rapidly
be pushed to Mason. We trust all these predictions will be verified.
Governor Hogg has issued his proclamation designating th e 22nd day of February
as Arbor Day, and earnestly requesting that
said day be generally observed for that purpose in such manner as may seem
best to the people of each community.

LONG MOUNTAIN NOTES.
The weather
has been cold the past week,
It has
been raining today but has let up now.
Rev.
Atkinson failed to fill his appointment at this palce this morning on account
of the rain.
There
is a great deal of sickness in this part of the county. The family of A. D.
McCollum are sick but are improving some.
Also Mr. H. Woodward has been quite sick for over a week, but is improving.
The infant
of Mr and Mrs T. A. Rolston (that was reported to have died some days since,)
died Friday last. Also Mr Rolston himself
is been pretty sick but is better. The heart-broken family have the
sympathy of a large number of friends and relatives.
Farmers
are very busy turning their land and preparing for thir crops.
Two families
by the name of Brewer are here from Comanche Co., visitng their sister Mrs
Jackson. They are thinking of locating here.
There
has been no school the past week on account of the teacher having the Grippe.
Rev.
Ballard preached here last Sunday, and aimed on holding conference during
the week, but owing to sickness people did not turn out
and the matter was postponed.

W. B. Ellison died at his home seven miles from town last Tuesday. His wife
preceded him only two weeks.

SECOND PG.
Cattlemen from the Indian Territory report the blizzard very disastrous
to stock, hundreds having died.
The Red river froze over solid at a number of points near Denison, Texas,
and teams passed over.
The fine court house of Llano County was burned on Jan 22 together
with nearly all the furniture.
The county clerk and treasurer saved their books and records. Loss $45,000,
insurance $21, 000.
The fire is supposed to be the work of an incendiary.

Mrs Bauer, mother of Jacob Bauer, died last Sunday morning. She was quite
aged.
