Welcome to McLennan County, TXGenWeb!

McLennan was created from Milam county in 1850 and is located in east central Texas. Waco, the county seat, is on the Brazos River at the intersection of Interstate 35 and Highway 84. The county was named for Neil McLennan, one of the early settlers and Waco for the natives in the area. When Waco University and Baylor University at Independence were consolidated in 1886, Waco was chosen as its permanent home.
