The following pages from 1 to 14 inclusive cou(sic) a Transcript of the original Records of the commissioners Court of McMullen County f(sic) page 1 to page 20 inclusive. This Transcript is made in pursuance of an order of the said Commissioners Court passed May 15, 1877 interred on page 20 of said original Minutes and on page 16 of this book.

Be it remembered that on the 5th day of January 1877, there was begun and holden a ca(sic) session of the commissioners Court of McMullen County Texas at Dogtown, when the following proceedings were had to with the Honorable George Dilworth County Judge presiding F Dixon Com Precinct No. 1 and T. E. Wright Commissioner of Precinct No 3. Now, come the following named officers and present their bonds with the oaths attached (sic) to and ask that they be approved by the said county, ------

L. A. Parchman Sheriff
L. W. Snowden Clerk of the County Court
L. W. Snowden " " the District Court
M. F. Lowe Assessor of Taxes
M. H. Martin Inspection of Hides and Animals
John Hill Justice of the Peace Precinct No (cut off)
Charles Forrester Justice of the Peace Precinct No (cut off)

Which having been examined it is therefore ordered and decreed that they be and are surely approved Whereas the qualified voters of Precinct No. 1 (sic) advertintly failed to elect a Justice of the Peace and thereby caused a vacancy in said office, it is therefore ordered and decreed by the court that S. F. Dixson be and is hereby appointed Justice of the Peace in and for Precinct No 1 in said County until the next general election of County and Precinct officers and until his succession is elected and qualified Whereas the qualified voters of Precinct No 4 failed to elect a Justice of the Peace for Precinct No 4 of said county it is therefore ordered and decreed by the Court that A. J. Nichols be and is hereby appointed Justice of the Peace in and for said Precinct until the Sixth general election of County and Precinct officers and until his succession is elected and qualified this furthermore ordered by the Court in behalf of the people of McMullen County that we tender our thanks to the Honorable Judge G. W. Jones of Live Oak County for the interest he has taken in of this county. And now comes S. F. Dixon and presents his bond which was examined and approved by the Court.

It is ordered by the Court that Honorable George Dilworth be allowed a leave of absence for any number of days not to exceed twenty There being no further business to transact it is ordered that the court now adjourn until the next regular term.
