COLORADO CITY – Mrs. Gwen Claxton, age 85, of Sweetwater and formerly of Colorado City, died Monday morning, November 1, 2010, in an Abilene hospital. Services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 3, in the Kiker-Seale Chapel with Dr. Jerry Shields officiating. Burial followed in the Colorado City Cemetery under the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.

Mrs. Claxton was born November 21, 1924 in Stonewall County to Cyrus and Audie Green Yarbrough and had been a longtime resident of Colorado City. She married Audavee Claxton on November 28, 1942 in Hermleigh. He preceded her in death on October 25, 1998. She was homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Comanche.

She is survived by three daughters, Lynn and husband, Larry Moody and Sandy and husband Tim Pearcy, all of Sweetwater and Elaine and husband, Tom Kelly of Cameron; a daughter-in-law, Belinda Claxton of Colorado City; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and her care taker, Chere Smith, of Colorado City.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Ronnie Claxton; and two grandsons, Casey and Curt Claxton.
