Colorado City - Mr. Ira Edwards, age 86, of Colorado City, died Wednesday morning in a local hospital. Services will be at 2 PM Friday in the First Baptist Church in Colorado City with Dr. Jerry Shields officiating. Burial will follow in the Colorado City Cemetery under the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Edwards was born June 12, 1924 in Slick, Oklahoma to Edgar and Myra Underwood Edwards and had been a resident of Colorado City since 1970. He married Genevieve Todd on February 3, 1946 in Shamrock, Oklahoma. He was a 30 year employee for Sun Oil Co. He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he was a deacon, a member of Gideons International and a veteran of the US Army during WWII.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jean Edwards of Colorado City; a daughter, Melody and husband, David Stubblefield of Colorado City; 2 sons: Michael and wife, Linda Edwards of Divide, CO and Daniel and wife, Debra Edwards of Broken Arrow, OK; 2 sisters: Colleen Sollars of Cushing, OK and Sue England of Marble Falls, TX; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Earl Edwards and a sister Walsie Douglas.
