Mr. James Larry Free, age 67, of Colorado City, passed away, Sunday, August 7, 2011 at Midland Memorial Hospital in Midland ,Texas. Memorial Services will be 10:00 A. M. Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Oat Street Baptist Church in Colorado City, Texas. Rev. Jackie Brim will be officiating services.
James was born January 15, 1944 in Colorado City, Texas, to parents Otis and Lillian Free. James grew up in Colorado City area. James married Janet Daskam in Colorado City on March 28, 1965. He was working for the United States Postal Service. James was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church. James served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. James served on the City Park Advisory board, was a member of American Legion, and on the Oak Street Baptist Church Board.
James is survived by: wife: Janet Free of Colorado City, Son: Jason Free and wife Elsa of Colorado City, Grandchildren: Amanda Free and Eric Gonzales, Kailyn Free and Jessie Salazar, Jason Alexander Free, Aaron Free, Britanny McKinney, Great-Grandchildren: Analyciah Free, Lillyana Free, Arkadian Free. Sisters: Ronda Arreondo and husband Manuel of Midland, Tx, Ann Bolin of Stockton, California, Opal Tackle of Colorado City, Marie Garrett and husband Jerry of Forsan, Wanda Escobar and husband Jim of Modesto, CA, Donna Solis of Modesto, CA. and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
