Big Spring, Texas - Mr. Claud Eldon Jones, age 86, passed away on February
13, 2011 in Big Spring. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February
16, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Kiker-Seale Chapel in Colorado City with Rev.
Joseph Jones officiating. Burial to follow in the Colorado City Cemetery
under the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Jones was born in Colorado City, Texas to William Claude Jones and Clara
Mae Nichols/Jones on September 7, 1924. He was the eldest son of five
children. Mr. Jones was a veteran of WW II and served in the Navy on the USS
Conyngham. After returning home from the war, he married Billie Jean Carey
on July 4th, 1946 and they were married for 64 years. Mr. Jones was a
construction foreman for Southwestern Bell telephone for thirty eight years
prior to his retirement. After retiring, he and wife, Billie, moved back
from Odessa and built their retirement home in Big Spring. After his
retirement, Mr. Jones loved to work in the afternoon at his son's shop
rebuilding cars, with his son's specialty being 1957 Chevrolets. After
having some heart problems over the years, Mr. Jones exercised each Monday,
Wednesday and Friday at the Dora Roberts Rehab center in Big Spring and had
many friends there. Mr. Jones and his wife enjoyed camping, and for many
years spent time in their favorite camp spot in Cloudcroft, New Mexico with
friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Jones, of Big Spring, Tx; a son, Dickie
Jones and his wife, Linda, of Big Spring; a daughter, Toni Knox of
Richardson, Tx; a sister, Mary Yvonne "Toots" Robertson and her husband,
Bill of Conroe, Tx; nephews: Joe Jones and his wife Tammy of Waxahachie, Tx;
William "Skeeter" Jones and his wife Martha of Fairfield, Tx; Donald Sellars
and his wife Su-zan of Kingwood; nieces: Connie Chambers and her husband
Randy of Colorado City; Crystal Sutter and her husband Alton of Snyder, Tx;
Debra Sullivan of Carrollton, Tx.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Wanda Jones and Janice
Cox; and a brother, Keeven Jones. |
