Mrs. Lavern Jones, age 77, of Colorado City, died Tuesday
afternoon in a local care center. Services will be at 2 PM
Friday in the Kiker-Seale Chapel with Rev. Joseph Jones and
Dr. Jerry Shields officiating. Burial will follow in the
Colorado City Cemetery under the care and direction of Kiker-Seale
Funeral Home.
Mrs. Jones was born April 7, 1936 in Sweetwater to Arthur
and Gracie Fowler Talley and had been a lifelong resident of
Colorado City. She married Keeven "Speck" Jones on May 30,
1952 in Colorado City. He preceded her in death on September
1, 2010. She was a homemaker and a member of the First
Baptist Church in Colorado City. She was a waitress and
bookkeeper for many years.
She is survived by a daughter, Connie and husband, Randy
Chambers of Colorado City; 2 sons: Joe and wife, Tammy Jones
of Waxahachie, TX and William and wife, Martha Jones of
Fairfield, TX; a sisters, Barbara Ann Bailey of Ontario, CA;
2 half-brothers: J. L. Soles of Tennessee and Leslie Soles
of Sweetwater, TX; grandchildren: Joseph and wife, Heather
Jones of Quanah, TX, Kristel and husband, Cory Willingham of
LaVernia, TX, Kaci Chambers of Colorado City, Michael and
wife, Katie Chambers of Abilene, TX and a step granddaughter
Shelly Cameron of East Texas; great grandchildren; Laine and
Mason Willingham of LaVernia, TX , Joshua Jones of Quanah,
TX and Christopher Keeven Chambers of Abilene, TX; and
several niece and nephews.
She is also preceded in death by her parents, a sister,
Patty Talley and a great grandson, Jordan Asher Jones.
The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Thursday at the
funeral home. |
