Mrs. Jess Lee Buried Sunday
Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church Sunday afternoon at 5
o'clock for Mrs. J. C. Lee, Rev. Alta Hardin of Sundown, Texas, and Rev.
Healer of Sweetwater officiating. T. J. Riden had charge of the song
service.
Mrs. Cora Lee was born in Smith County, Texas, October 9, 1895 to Mr. and
Mrs. J. F. Marshall. She died on March 29, 1946 at the age of 50 years, 5
months and 20 days.
She was converted at the age of 14 and was a member of the Methodist Church
until 1921 when she joined the Baptist Church with her husband.
She was married to Jesse C. Lee July 23, 1921. To this union one child was
born, Jesteen, who preceded her mother in death almost three years.
Mrs. Lee is survived by her husband, one son, J. C. Freeman and two
step-children, Burdette Lee and Wilma Hudgins, seven brothers, J. M.
Marshall of Colorado City, Ned Marshall of St. Martinville, Louisiana, H. H.
Marshall of Eunice, Louisiana, Grady Marshall of Milton, Florida, John
Marshall of Loraine; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Smith of Colorado City, and Mrs.
Kate Woods of Hermleigh; four grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a
host of friends.
Flower bearers were nieces and pallbearers were nephews of the deceased.
There were many out of town relatives and friends here to attend the
funeral, the names of some of whom we failed to get, among them were Johnny
and Mose Freeman and Fred Long of Cross Plains, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Freeman
of Coleman, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Marshall of Abilene, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Long
of McKinney, Dewitt Marshall, Jr. of Eunice, Louisiana, Raymond Marshall of
Lubbock, Mrs. J. L. Davidson, Elvis Lee and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Wells and
children of Lubbock, Garland Marshall of San Angelo, Mr. and Mrs. Ben
Wiggins of Ackerley, Mr.and Mrs. Dois McKee of Big Spring, Mr. and Mrs.
Alvin Brown of Stanton, Mr. and Mrs. Loal Brown of Odessa, Mr. and Mrs.
Dewitt Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Marshall of Abilene, Mr. and Mrs. John
Brown of Dunn, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Smith of Roscoe, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Giles of
Midland, Mr. and Mrs. Toy Gideon and Homan Lee of Sweetwater, Mr. and Mrs.
