Mrs. Hazel Ethyl McCollum, 93, of Loraine passed away Tuesday,
April 10, 2001 in Big Spring. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at First Baptist Church in Loraine with Rev. Bryan Waddell officiating. Burial followed in the Loraine Cemetery under the direction of Kiker Seale Funeral Home.

Mrs. McCollum was born September 9, 1907 in Eastland County to Harve and Ora Compton. She came to Mitchell County with her family as a child in 1910 and lived here the rest of her life with the exception of one year that she lived in California. She married Laine McCollum on November 15, 1925 in Colorado City. He preceded her in death on June 28, 1974.

Survivors include a daughter, Billie Jean Reed of Abilene; a son, Weldon McCollum of Big Spring, three grandchildren, Noel Reed of Abilene, Susan Solomon of San Angelo and Melinda Reavis of Stanton; six great-grand children and two great great- grandchildren; one brother, Harvey "Hobbs"
Compton of Irving, and a sister, Claudia McCreary of Big Spring.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers. two sisters, a son in law, one grandson and one great grandchild.
