COLORADO CITY PIONEER DIES
COLORADO CITY, Sept. 16 (RNS) ~~ Mrs. Mary Belle Vaughan, 78, died at 7 a.m.
Saturday at her home here after an illness of six weeks.
Mrs. Vaughan was born May 31, 1872, in Jefferson, Texas. She was married in
1890 in Snyder to John S. Vaughan. He died in 1921. She had lived in
Colorado City for the past 56 years.
Survivors are three sons, Earl James Vaughan of Fort Worth, Myrtie John
Vaughan of Sweetwater, Nelson Vaughan of Denver, Colorado; two daughters,
Mrs. Winnie Quinney of Colorado City and Mrs. Virginia Mackey of San
Antonio; one sister, Mrs. O.P. Thrane of Abilene; five grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held from the First Methodist Church at 2 p.m.
Sunday, with the Rev. J. E. Shewbert officiating. Pallbearers will be Oren
Trulock, Ross Daniels, Roy Warren, Joe Mills, J. A. Sadler, Louis
Fitzgerald, Lucian Maddin and Roy Buchannon.
Burial will be in the Colorado City Cemetery with an Eastern Star service.
Kiker and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. |
