Welcome
Motley County is in the panhandle region of Texas and the county seat is Matador. As of the 2010
census, its population was 1,210. The county was created in 1876 from part of Bexar County and
organized in 1891. It is named for Junius William Mottley, a signer of the Texas Declaration of
Independence.
