Welcome
Runnels County is in the north central region of Texas and the county seat is Ballinger. As of the
2010 census, its population was 10,501. The county was created in 1858 from parts of Bexar and
Travis counties and organized in 1880. It's named for Hiram G. Runnels, a Texas state legislator.
