SNYDER DAILY NEWS http://www.snyderdailynews.com/Stories/index.htm Hilaria Almanza 1926-2000 ODESSA � Hilaria Medrano Almanza, a native of Fisher County, died Monday, Aug. 14, at her home in Odessa. Mass for Mrs. Almanza, 73, was set for 10 a.m. today in the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with the Rev. James Bridges officiating. Burial was to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Odessa Funeral Home. Born Dec. 6, 1926 in Hobbs, Tex., she graduated from Hobbs High School and attended Odessa College. She married Pedro Almanza on June 10, 1944 in Rotan. Mrs. Almanza operated La Villita Caf� in downtown Odessa for 11 years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of the Medical Center Hospital auxiliary and taught Mexic an food cooking at Odessa College. Two weeks prior to her death, she participated in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. Survivors include her husband, Pedro Almanza of Odessa; two sons, Pete Almanza and Benny Almanza, both of Odessa; three daughters, Linda Aguirre, Geneva Ybarra and Evelyn Garcia, all of Odessa; four bothers, Ramon Medrano of Odessa, Cayetano Medrano of Snyder, and Ben and Marcos Medrano, both of Hobbs; three sisters, Ruth Gonzales of Odessa, Pauline Gonzales of Stamford and Natividad Lopez of Abilene; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
