I. W. Terry Obituary I. W. Terry, prominent Sterling County rancher, died Friday, July 12, 1996 at his home. He was born in Colorado City, Texas, March 7, 1925. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday , July 14, in Sterling City at the First United Methodist Church, where he was a longtime member. The Rev. Shane Barnes will be officiating. Burial will be in Foster Cemetery. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Homes. Mr. Terry was a native of Colorado City. He attended Texas Tech University. He served in the Army in 1944-45 in Okinawa and Japan. He was active in the community in FFA and 4-H. He served on the Sterling City School Board and the Appraisal Board. Also, he was a director of the Central National Bank of San Angelo, director of the Texas Southwestern Cattle Raisers' Association, president of the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers' Association and ranched in Sterling, Irion, Coke, Crockett, Mitchell and Reagan counties. He was married to Carolyn Foster on Aug 12, 1950. He was preceded in death by his parents, I. W. and Ernia Terry. Survivors are his wife, Carolyn; his son Jim and wife Sunni, of Sterling City; two daughters, Susan and husband Doug Connolly, of Austin and Melinda and husband, Jim Hinds of Irving; five grandchildren, Clay and Kelly Townsend of Austin and Rachel, Rebecca and Ryder Hinds of Irving; and a sister Joan Inman. The family requests that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church of Sterling City, West Texas Boys Ranch and West Texas Rehabilitation Centers.
