When he was postmaster Johnson City, Tarrant Co., he wrote the PO Dept. in Washington, requesting the name of Johnson City be changed to Arlington in honor of Gen. Lee's former home in Virginia. Permission was granted.

He moved to Azle from Medon, Tennessee. He is my GG Grandfather. He is the grandfather of Faye Reed Agerton, one of the charter members of Fort Worth Genealogical Society.

Additional information provided by Sue:
Quinn first enrolled Co. C 1st Miss but was discharged because he was underage; seventeen years old. He later enrolled Aug 3 at Spring Dale and mustered into service Sept 9, 1861 at Iuka Mississippi in Capt Louis M. Lawshe's Company (Dave Rogers' Rifles), 1 Regiment Mississippi Volunteers which subsequently became Company G 1st (Johnston's) Regiment Mississippi Infantry. His age is listed as 17 years old here as well. He escaped the capture of his regiment at Fort Donelson in 1862, (the majority of his regiment was captured at this time) but was captured at Hernando, Mississippi April 18,1863 sent to Alton, Illinois, Fort McHenry , Maryland, City Point, Virginia and Point Lookout, Maryland where he was exchanged Feb 10 1865.
