E. W. Farmer

E. W. Farmer, 83, one of the oldest stockmen in Fort Worth, died Monday morning at his home in North Fort Worth. Born in 1832 in Roane County, Tennessee, he came to Texas in 1848 and to Tarrant County in 1850 when Fort Worth was still a military post. Indian depredations after the Civil War forced him to sell his cattle in west Texas and return to his home in Tarrant County. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. A. A. Thompson of Fort Worth and Mrs. Jennie Haymaker of Chicago, Ill., and three sons, James D. Farmer, Joe P. Farmer and W. R. Farmer, all of Fort Worth.

Farmer was a charter member of the White Settlement Baptist Church. His funeral services will be held there, Rev. W. C. McClung officiating, with burial in the cemetery near the church. Honorary pallbearers include W. S. Rowland, J. K. Allen, J. A. Grant, S. A. Hatcher, E. M. Daggett, H. I. Thompson, J. F. Hovenkamp, W. L. Fuller, W. L. George and A. F. Crowley.
