Petition of Luan B. Ellis, widow of Elijah W. Ellis, late of Tarrant
County, for inventory and appraisement of the community property between
herself and E. W. Ellis, deceased. She recites that Elijah W. Ellis died
on the 6th day of this Inst. without making testamentary disposition of his
Estates, leaving property within the jurisdiction of the Court. Filed 12
March 1868.
Order issued 12 March 1868 to L. L. Jopling, C. Wise, and W. D. Beall,
requiring them to make out and return to the court a full and complete inventory
of the community property belonging to the estate of E. W. Ellis and his
surviving wife Luan B. Ellis together with a true valuation of the
same.
Return of "An inventory of the property of Hannah Melphy Ellis Deceased
as appraised by C. Wise and L. L. Joplin." Dated March 14, 1868: 1 feather
Bed and Pillows 32lbs 16.00; 1 coverlaid 3.00; 1 Bed quilt 2.50; 2 pice up
Quilts 3.00; 1 Table Cloth. 50; 1 Set Silver Spoon Tea 4.50; Total value,
$29.50. Sworn before H. L. Brown, Deputy C. C. C. T. C. T. Inventory and appraisement of the community property of Luan B. Ellis and her deceased husband, E. W. Ellis. Sworn by Luan B. Ellis, 19 March 1868, before J. A. Cornelius, J. P. Returned 30 March 1868 by L. L. Jopling. Inventory included 72 items; among them: 1 tract of land, preemption claim; accounts of Thomas Pulley, Daniel Turner, L. L. Joplin. Notes of Marion Blankenship, A. Curry, and G. W. Tummins. Account of A. Curry against estate for $47.50, from May 15, 1865 through October 1867: for 1 gear; wintering one colt winter of 55 and 56; one horse and wagon for 5 days at 75 [cents] per day; 9 lbs. cotton; 10 bushels wheat; cash; 2 patterns shoe leather; 10 gallons molasses [the molasses, purchased on Oct. 10, 1867, is shown on the inventory.] Sworn 30 April 1868 before J.
