Sarah Jane
Shasteen Graves, born ca. 1841 TN, (first married
John F. Graves who died) and her second husband M.
A. Bradberry, born ca. 1838 TN, came to TX from
Franklin Co., TN after 1870. They brought with
them her son John T. Graves, born ca. 1861 TN, and
her son William R. Bradberry, born ca. 1867 TN.
After arriving in TX, they had a daughter Sarah
Louisa "Lou" Bradberry, probably born early 1870s.
In 1901 the three children, all from Tarrant Co.,
TX, appointed their uncle T. W. Graves in Franklin
Co., TN to be their Power of Attorney. In 1901
Sarah Louisa "Lou" Bradberry was listed as Mrs.
Lou Stevens, wife of John Stevens. Do you have a
burial record for any of these individuals? Thank
you for volunteering to do cemetery lookups for
Tarrant Co.
REPLY:
I did not find anyone from this family in the

Please do not take this the wrong way. I have to
make this statement periodically to deter others
from one upping you. In the future, please try

Seeking
information on Hettie Bell Aldridge Ward,
Dob:8-25-1895 DOD:6-29-1967. It is my
understanding that her place of death was Ft.
Worth. I haven't been able to find anything on
her. I was told some time ago that she was
buried in a paupers grave. We were not notified
of her death so know nothing of funeral home
etc. She was my grandmothers sister and there is
no one left with any information. She was
married to ?Aldridge in the early 20's, but it
must have been for a short while. I don't know
if she was using the Aldridge name at the time
of her death or not. She may have been using her
maiden name of Ward. I have found nothing on the
SSDI. I will appreciate anything you can find on
her. Thank you!
REPLY:
I did not find her. I don't believe that
Oakwood was being used for pauper's burials as
late as 1967. My suggestion to you is to
contact the Fort Worth Library to see if they
can locate an obit. If that doesn't work, try
contacting Greenwood or Laurel Land
Cemeteries. I have seen paupers graves in
Greenwood and LL is likely because it is the
largest in the county. Contact info for the
library is on Page 1 and the cemeteries are on
Page 301.

Rob,
thank you very much for the information on the
Wilcox family. My sister & I were in Ft.
Worth a couple of years ago and stopped by
Oakwood Cemetery. They did show our ggrandfather
Charles Brackenridge Wilcox, but had him listed
as Chs. B. Willcock. I thought they had
corrected the information. Do you show a Charles
B. Willcock. I dont know if Mrs Sexton is
related or not, will have to check on that.
Others related would be Gandy's and S.T. Morris
and Mary or Elizabeth Morris.
REPLY:
Yes I show a C.B. WILLCOCKS, who was interred
7-27-1898. No headstone. The book was compiled
from 1991-93, therefore it does not contain
updates.
Speaking of the double "LL", also shown are:
Mrs. Mary WILLCOX, b. 1-23-1866, d.
12-23-1930, resided Fort Worth.
Geo. W. WILLCOX, b. 1850, d. 1-10-1910.
Geo. and Mary each have headstones and are
buried together. |
