Census Records

Only the 1850 Federal census for Tarrant County is available on this website.  If any of you have access to other census records for our county and are willing to transcribe them, we always welcome new Lookup Volunteers.








The FamilySearch website has the entire 1880 US census on-line.






The Fort Worth Public Library has all available Federal census' for Texas through 1930.






The National Archives and Records Administration, Southwest Branch in Fort Worth has a complete set of all Federal census' through 1930.

Deed Records The courthouse has deed records and plats from 1876 to present.






Official Public Records (1970's to present), including Deed Records, have been made available on-line by the County Clerk.






Probate Records The courthouse has probate and estate records from 1876 to present.

Some early Tarrant County probate records survived the 1876 courthouse fire. These were published in Footprints thirty years ago and we are slowly transcribing them to place on-line.








On the Fort Worth Genealogical Society's website you will find an index to probate records from 1876 through 1927.






Assumed Names

Assumed Name Records from 1977 to Present have been made available on-line by the County Clerk.






Cemetery Info

Our cemetery database contains information on 167 known cemeteries in Tarrant County.  If a cemetery has been inventoried we give the book or periodical where it was found and in many cases we give at least one location where to find the publication.  Inscriptions for 63 cemeteries are on our website, plus there are links to 18 additional off-site listings.








Look-Up volunteers are waiting to assist you in searching through 6 other published cemeteries.

Newspapers Yesterday's News contains abstracts from area newspapers dating from the 1870's through the 1920's.




  
The Fort Worth Public Library has local newspapers on microfilm that date back to the dark ages.






The Amon Carter Museum has an excellent newspaper collection.






See the website of the Fort Worth Star Telegram online.  Articles from 1991 to present are available. Search the archives for free, but there is a fee to display an article after it is found.
