Old Colony Cemetery
aka Colony Hill, Eagle Colony
How To Get There: From US Highway 83-84 in Abilene, Texas, take Farm to Market Road 707 East 2.2 miles to the
intersection with Farm to Market Road 1750. Turn left (north) on FM 1750 and go 1.5 miles to the cemetery which is on
the right (east) side of the road.

Located in Taylor County and very near the Abilene City Limits, Eagle Colony (Colony Hill, Old Colony) is one of
the oldest cemeteries in the county. The oldest marked burial is 1889 but there are at least 54 unmarked graves some of
which are likely to be from the arrival of the first settlers in about 1867. Due to the harsh enviornment and a severe
drought, most of the settlers were gone by 1878. This cemetery listing has been updated through the year 2000. There is
