Charles O. Cash

Funeral services were Saturday, January 21, 2006, here for Charles O. Cash of Sanderson who died January 19, 2006, at Pecos County Memorial Hospital in Fort Stockton after a long struggle with health problems.
Cash was born on July 3, 1926, in Del Rio to Alpha Yoas Cash and Henry Webster Cash but spent most of his life in Sanderson.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II and during the Korean conflict.
He was married to Frankie Shelander in Everett, Washington, on January 28, 1951, and the couple had two children, daughter Mitzi and son Jim.
Charles Cash was employed by Southern Pacific Railroad as a locomotive engineer, a position from which he retired in April, 1990, after 42 years service.
He was an active and faithful member of First Baptist Church in Sanderson, taking on the responsibility for many years of maintaining the buildings and grounds.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, John Henry Cash, Sr., and sisters, Mamie Morgan, Mozelle Stoaker, Lois Thompson and Vera Bell Bass.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, his daughter and her husband Alan of Humble, his son and his wife Leila of Sanderson; six grandchildren, two great-granddaughters and three nephews and nieces.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Church, P. O. Box 560, Sanderson, or to a favorite charity.
