Riddle #1 Cemetery | Home |
This is one of two cemeteries in Titus County named Riddle. For the purposes of this survey this cemetery will be called Riddle #1. It lies about 3.5 miles Northwest of Mt. Pleasant in dense woods about 200 yards North of what is commonly referred to as the Old Paris Road. The Riddle family started the cemetery and it has only been a family cemetery. Only two monuments remain (if there were ever more). It was once fenced but no longer is. The environment is wreaking havoc with the monuments with one toppled, broken and slowly being buried. Surrounding vegetation is rapidly overtaking the area. Supposedly there are five graves in the cemetery. The cemetery can be reached from the Titus County court house by going west on West 1st Street for 0.3 mile to the intersection with Edwards Avenue. Turn right (North) on Edwards and proceed for 1.6 miles across US 67 and under Interstate 30 to a fork in the Road. Take the right fork (Old Paris Road) and continue 1.7 miles. The cemetery lies about 200 yards to the right (North) of the Old Paris Road, surrounded by dense woods. Coordinates: 33o11.767'N 095o00.207'W
