Rountree/Embry Cemetery | Home |
Roundtree Cemetery can be found in rural Northeast Titus County in the Argo Community. It is a family type cemetery started in the 1880s by James Sylvester Roundtree. The cemetery is fenced and well maintained. A large arch looms over the gate to the cemetery and has the name, Rountree/Embry. There is a lot of empty space within the fence and it is impossible to tell how many are buried there. In addition to the monuments listed, there is only one native rock that probably marks another grave site. To reach the Rountree Cemetery from the Titus County court house take Jefferson Street north for 1.4 miles to the intersection with Burton Road (service road for IH-30). Turn right (East) onto Burton Road. The on ramp for Interstate 30 will be on the left 0.2 mile from the intersection. Enter IH-30 and proceed 2.9 miles east and take the Exit 165 FM 1001 off ramp. At the stop sign, turn left (North) onto FM 1001. Proceed 3.8 miles to the intersection of County Road 3350 (CR 32) and turn left (West) onto CR 3350. After approximately 0.8 miles the road turns sharply to the North. The cemetery is approximately 0.4 miles further on the right. Coordinates: 33o14.606'N 094o54.927'W
