Williams Cemetery | Home |
There are two cemeteries in Titus County that use the name “Williams”. Since the other one was historically sometimes called “Glass Cemetery”, it was decided to use Williams-Glass for that one and call this one simply “Williams”. This is not, in the classic sense, a cemetery. There are only two graves here, that of a man and wife. Why they are buried so remotely and yet in such close proximity (about 150 yards) to the Springhill SE Cemetery is puzzling and unknown. The cemetery has a chain link fence around it and kept in good condition. To reach the Williams Cemetery from the Titus County court house take Madison Street South for 0.3 mile to the intersection with Ferguson Road (US 271). Turn left onto Ferguson Road and continue Southeast (the road becomes Texas Highway 49). Proceed 3.2 miles to the intersection with Union Hill Road (FM 2348). Turn right on Union Hill Road (FM 2348) and proceed 8.5 miles to the intersection with County Road (CR) 4690 (CR SE 2}. Turn left onto CR 4690. The cemetery lies on the left about 150 yards from that intersection. Coordinates: 33o02.248'N 094o51.775'W
