James Hunter Dunlap

He and his wife are buried in Dunlap Cemetery in Kittrell, Tx. One of their sons is buried there with his wife (James Crouther and Frances Lucille Sanders Dunlap).
They had 5 children Ormon K. Dunlap 1895-1954, Ioma Dunlap 1897-1974, James Crouther Dunlap 1900-1973, John Howell Dunlap 1903-1954, and Ellis Gayle Dunlap 1907-1966.
They owned the land where Deep River Plantation all the Bear Creek subdivision in Kittrell. John Hamer Dunlap and K. D. Dunlap that still owns land out there was all apart of the Dunlap Plantation. Where in turn down Deep River road the Dunlap homes was there. Back in the day, they had a store there, lumber Mill, Grist Mill, and a Cotton.
Across from Deep River Plantation, that land used to be owned by the Dunlap's also.
James Hunter's Dad is James Crouther Dunlap born 10 June 1811 from Abbeville Co., South Carolina. And Elizabeth Eskridge Dunlap born 12 Jan 1833 Sumter Co., Alabama, USA. When they came to Walker Co., Texas they settle in Old Cincinnati, Walker Co., Texas. They had 2 of their daughters there Sarah Jane and Lou Ella Dunlap.
When yellow fever came. (The story that was handed down to me from my grandfather which was James Hunter's grandson.) James Crouther wrapped his family up in blanket and quilts and they drank whiskey. And they sweated the fever out.
I have a biography on James Hunter Dunlap and his life. James Crouther left Old Cincinnati for Gum Island stay there a little while his son James Hunter was born. They then moved to Kittrell and had 3 more girls Mary Alice, Addie, and Elizabeth.
