Bill G. Ivy
Amarillo Globe-News, June 17, 2001Bill G. Ivy, 66, of Amarillo, died Friday, June 15, 2001.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Brentwood Chapel at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St., with the Rev. Paul Richardson of Rockwell Road Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Ivy Grapevine Ranch Cemetery at Oldham County.
Mr. Ivy was born in Vega. He attended Amarillo High School and Colorado A&M University.
He married Mary Lou Payne at Olsen Park Baptist Church in Amarillo on Oct. 30, 1965. He was a member of the Texas Cattle Raisers Association and co-owner and operator of Grapevine Ranch in Oldham County.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jerry Ivy of Amarillo and Bill Ivy Jr. of Canyon; a sister, Sue Buescher of Amarillo; two brothers, Joe Ivy of Amarillo and Mack Farr of Burton; four grandchildren, Lane Ivy, Brent Ivy, Jarrah Ivy and Meagan Ivy; a special great-nephew, Jeremy Norman; special nieces, JoLynn Ivy of Canyon, Michelle Norman of Dallas and Melinda Switzer of Amarillo; and other nieces and nephews.

Juan Martinez, Jr.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Chapel at Cal Farley's Boys Ranch with Regi Fowler, minister of music at Paramount Terrace Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Boys Ranch Cemetery by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Martinez was born and raised in Canyon. He lived for several years at Cal Farley's Boys Ranch and graduated from high school there. While at Boys Ranch, he was state champion wrestler and was a state champion saddle bronc rider.
He was involved with professional wrestling in Amarillo and was proud to be associated with the Boys Ranch Alumni Association. He was the owner of J&S Trucking in Amarillo. He married Sherry Snyder in 1999 at Amarillo.

James William Nusbaum

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Boys Ranch Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Nusbaum was born March 19, 1966, to James Clinton Nusbaum and Chloella Baker Nusbaum. He worked for Rusty Weigh Cattle Scales.
Survivors include a daughter, Trellany Davis; three brothers, Robbie Buller of Enid, Okla., and Ricky Buller and Russell Buller, both of Dumas; a sister, Darla Hodnett of Leonard and their families.
Charles Herbert Jones
Amarillo Globe-News, Mar. 17, 2004Charles Herbert Jones, 65, of Amarillo died Tuesday, March 16, 2004.
Private graveside services will be at Cal Farley's Boys Ranch Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Mr. Jones was born in Paris and raised at Cal Farley's Boys Ranch. He served in the Army and lived in Amarillo for many years.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry and Tommy.
Survivors include his wife, Pam; three daughters, Parie Villyard and Tammy Nicholson, both of Amarillo, and Crysti Farra of Kennedale; a sister, Pamela Jean; an uncle, Ivan Wilson of Borger; and six grandchildren.

Francis Tyler Simpkins
Amarillo Globe-News, May 27, 2005COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. - Staff Sgt. Francis Tyler Simpkins, 23, died Monday, May 23, 2005.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Cal Farley's Boys Ranch Chapel in Boys Ranch, Texas, with Cory Wall officiating. Burial will be in Boys Ranch Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home of Amarillo, Texas, 4100 S. Georgia St.
Staff Sgt. Simpkins was born June 21, 1981. He grew up at Cal Farley's Boys Ranch and graduated in 1999. He participated in many ranch activities. He excelled in the rodeo as a bull fighter, later becoming a pro. When he could, he later returned to teach with Lyle Shankey Rodeo school, which was held at the ranch annually.
He joined the Army and served in Iraq for 14 months. Staff Sgt. Francis Tyler Simpkins distinguished himself in service to his country. He attended One Station Unit Infantry Training at Fort Benning, Ga. Upon completion, he was assigned to Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment in June 2000. While assigned to A. Co., SSG Simpkins advanced through the ranks with lightning speed. He served as SAW gunner, Bradley crewman, team leader and lastly as squad leader.
Staff Sgt. Simpkins' awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer's Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Expert Infantryman's Badge and Combat Infantryman's Badge. He earned the Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year award in 2002 within the 4000 man 3rd Brigade Combat team. He also earned the Audie Murphy award.
In 2003 and 2004, he served with the utmost distinction during a 12-month tour in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Upon returning, he was a part of the Army realignment which redesignated A Co. to the 1-68 AR Battalion. Staff Sgt. Simpkins' military professional development schools include the Primary Leadership Development Course, Combat Lifesaver's Course, and Bradley Crew Evaluator Course.
He was preceded in death by his father, Sonny Simpkins; and a sister, Andrea Burt.
Survivors include two children, Coltin Simpkins and Keegen Simpkins, both of Colorado Springs; his former wife, Kim Simpkins of Colorado Springs; a sister, Lori Stanhope and husband, Mike, of Amarillo; his mother, Alesa Scales of Borger, Texas; his house parents, mom and dad, Madaline and Troy Dunn of Boys Ranch, his brothers and Boys Ranch family; two nieces; a nephew; his grandparents, Marie Cacey and Buddy Simpkins; and numerous aunts and uncles.

John Edward Duffy

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Washington Avenue Christian Church with the Rev. Jim Shelburne officiating. Burial will be in Boys Ranch Cemetery by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
He started working in the construction industry and for the last half of his life, specifically in the painting industry. He was considered an authority to contractors and homeowners alike in all facets of painting needs. Many claim him as a "professional advisor" for his talents and knowledge of the industry.
Mr. Duffy was loved by all whom he touched and is sorely missed by the same. His kindness and caring traits were synonymous with his name. Honest in all his dealings, he developed a solid reputation for his character. John was an avid golfer and barbecue chef, doing either at any given opportunity. His love for golf was only surpassed by his love for his family. He was always lighthearted and full of playfulness in his spirit. His eyes lighted up at any discussions about his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles E. Duffy and mother, Gene Lyle.
Survivors include a son, Bo Duffy, his wife, Nancy, and their two children, Emma and Charlie, of Hannibal, Mo.; two daughters, Leah Call and husband, John, and Amanda Hernandez and husband, Mike, all of Amarillo; a sister, Gale Horton and her daughter, Alicia Horton, both of Concord, N.H.; and two brothers, Chuck Duffy of Kingston, Okla., and Mark Duffy of Lubbock.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Cox Funeral Home.

Edward Eugene Bawcom
The Wellington Leader, April 20, 2006Edward Eugene Bawcom, 70, of Amarillo died Wednesday, April 12,2006. Bawcom was born in Wellington. He attended Ranger Junior College, Sul Ross University and West Texas State University. Edward gave 25 years of service to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch as a coach, teacher and administrator. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and was an avid golfer. His biggest passion was his grandchildren and all of their activities. He married Melba "Chis" Chisum on August 22, 1957 in Amarillo. Survivors include his wife Chis, son Butch Bawcom and wife Vickie of Midland, daughter Sheri Collins and husband Tom of Waxahachie; grandchildren, Tye Bawcom, Logan Bawcom, Boome Collins of Bridgett Collins; two brothers, Leon Bawcom of Bryan and Leamon Bawcom and wife Nell of Wellington; and sister Patsy Dodge and husband John of Lebanon, Montana.
Jeffrey Allen Smith

Mr. Smith was born Sept. 6, 1976, in Amarillo. Jeff died after a lengthy battle with kidney disease. He enjoyed watching the Houston Texans and Texas Longhorns as well as going to car shows. Jeff was a loving and sincere son, brother and friend, and will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother and grandfather, Geneva and James P. Maloy; and an uncle, John Maloy in 2003.
Survivors include his mother, Kathryn Maloy of Amarillo; his stepfathers, Russell Caughron and Monte Rowland; a sister, Melissa Smith, of Amarillo; three brothers, Presley Maloy of Lake Dallas, Wesley Maloy of Amarillo and Chris Maloy of Houston; three uncles, James Maloy, Joe Maloy and Jack Crawford, all of Amarillo; two aunts, Linda Page of California and Cheryl Freeman of Amarillo; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Stuart Oliver Wells

Stuart Wells was born Oct. 17, 1985, in his grandparents' home in Tyler. Years later he was born again as a child of God through Holy Baptism at a Baptist church in Overton. He graduated from Boys Ranch High School in 2004 and attended Tyler Junior College. Stuart had a special love for animals, leading him to enjoy his work at Rannals Veterinarian Clinic in Whitehouse. After being diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in January 2003, his goal was to work in the field of medicine. Rare is the person who can be such an inspiration of Christian faith and kindness, while enduring great personal suffering. Stuart lived his life trying to do the impossible, which contributed to his gallant fight with cancer.
Survivors include two brothers, James Whitehurst of Longview and Scott Whitehurst of Tyler; his grandparents, Bo and Lynda Shira of Whitehouse; his great-grandparents, Melvin and Jessie Gromatzky of Chandler; many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended families, including the Hebers, Jennings, Jones, King and Spencer families; and two special friends, Jeremy Spencer and Orry Jones.

Murvel L. Smith, Jr.
Amarillo Globe-News, April 26, 2007Murvel L. "Rooster" Smith Jr., 46, formerly of Amarillo, died Sunday, April 22, 2007, in McKinney.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Cal Farley's Boys Ranch Cemetery with Dan Martin, pastor of Liberty Baptist Church in Dalhart, officiating. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors.
Mr. Smith was born Feb. 27, 1961, in Fort Dix, N.J. He had lived in Germany, Louisiana, New Jersey, McKinney and Amarillo, which he considered his home. He considered his time at Boys Ranch to be the best in his life. He was a graduate of Boys Ranch. He was a plumber.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Lou and Murvel Smith Sr.
Survivors include three sons, Blake "BJ," Chris and Jared, all of Amarillo; two sisters, Margie Johnson of Dumas and Merrell Gossett of Amarillo; a brother, Marlin Smith of Flower Mound; six grandchildren; four nieces; and three nephews.
Family visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family will be at 512 Pecan in Dumas.
Robert Hardin Dunkerson

Mr. Dunkerson was born March 16, 1961, in Scott City, Kan., to Luther and Barbara Garrett Dunkerson. On Feb. 13, 1982, he married Paula Cook in Breckenridge.
Survivors include his wife, Paula; two sons, Jason Dunkerson of Amarillo and Wes Dunkerson of Channing; a granddaughter; his mother of Midland; and a brother, Gary Dunkerson.
Martha Jo Steele

Burial will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Boys Ranch Cemetery at Cal Farley's Boys Ranch by Carmichael- Whatley Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Steele was born Nov. 5, 1936, in Oklahoma City and had lived in Pampa since 1988. She married Charles "Chuck" Steele on Aug. 10, 1955, in Alva, Okla., and he preceded her in death on Nov. 15, 1996.
She was a lifelong educator, most recently working for Pampa Independent School District as a diagnostician. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was actively involved in the orchestra ministry.
Survivors include two daughters, Cindy Langston and Suzy Taylor and husband Eddie, all of Amarillo; three sons, David Steele and wife Janie of Dalhart, Doug Steele and wife Lori of Bozeman, Mont., and Pat Steele and wife Shelly of Ponder; a sister, Nancy Woods and husband Al of Sun City West, Ariz.; two brothers, Pat McGinley and wife Jonila of Lake Way and Mike McGinley and wife Carlyn of Kiowa, Kan.; 16 grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren.

Joseph William Oney

Joe Bill was born May 16, 1950, in Dalhart. He spent his younger years at Boys Ranch. In 1964, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served his country proudly earning the Vietnam Campaign Medal, two overseas bars, expert M-16, Vietnam Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Vivian "Billie" Smith.
Survivors include his father, Jimmie T. Smith; his wife, Joyce Oney; three children, Jana, Chris and Lisa; six stepchildren, Stephen, Brenda, Karla, Robin, Ramona and Rick; three brothers, Stephen Gayle, Mark Oney and Todd Smith; a sister, Debbie Smith; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mrs. Roberts was born Jan. 15, 1926, to William and Annie McCormick in Electra.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Roberts of Borger and Gregory Roberts of Amarillo; two sisters, Ina Ruth Tyler of Fritch and Pat Dorris of Bixby, Okla.; and two grandchildren.
Mildred Alice Hendricks

Millie was born Sept. 12, 1920, to Peyton D. and Hazel Gibson Moncrief. She married Louie E. Hendricks in 1944, in Stuttgart, Ark. She attended the University of Central Arkansas and West Texas State University. At the end of World War II, they moved to El Paso and to Amarillo in 1959. She was a schoolteacher in both Arkansas and El Paso. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louie; a son, L. Peyton; a sister, Mary Ann Reed; and her parents.
Survivors include a son, Robert L. Hendricks, chaplain, and wife Becky of San Antonio; two grandsons, Andrew Peyton Hendricks and Timothy Chad Hendricks, both of San Antonio; a niece, Hazel Smith of Houston; and a nephew, retired Marine Corps Lt. Col. Alfred Reed.

Cathy Ann McGaughy Costin
Amarillo Globe-News, Nov. 5, 2009Cathy Ann McGaughy Costin, 63, of Amarillo died Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, in Dallas.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with the Rev. Harold Petree, minister of education of First Baptist Church in Weatherford, Okla., officiating. Burial will be private.
Cathy was born Sept. 20, 1946, in Amarillo to Robert Samuel and Elizabeth Ann Collins McGaughy. She graduated from Tascosa High School(1965) and the Amarillo College dental hygienist program and attended West Texas State University.
She married James Costin on July 3, 1996, in Waurika, Okla.
Cathy loved horses, raising Arabians and participating in many show horse events and competitions. She co-owned Franklin Buggy Werkes in Florence, Kan., working on street rods and hot rods and restoring classic cars. She once drove a vintage car across the country in the Great American Race. She also co-owned FBW Hardware and an antiques store in Florence.
She was an avid gardener who could coax any plant to thrive and flourish. A tall beauty, Cathy also did modeling work, including advertising for Blackburn's. She was Miss Houston Colt Forty-Fives for two years running before the team became the Houston Astros. She studied her Bible faithfully and proved a valuable teacher to those who sought her counsel.
Cathy and James moved to Amarillo in 2001 so she could care for her parents.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother; her aunt and uncle, Catherine and George Irby; and a brother, Robert "Bob" McGaughy.
Survivors include her husband, James; a brother, Donny McGaughy and wife Terry of Fort Worth; a niece, Jayra Ray; two nephews, Sam McGaughy and Andy McGaughy; a sister-in-law, Jaton McGaughy; great-nieces, great- nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; and her faithful companion, Foxy.

Jim Wesley Rodgers

Jim Wesley Rodgers was born to Woodrow Wilson Rodgers and Lona Marie Corgill Rodgers on Oct. 18, 1950, in Childress. Wesley, as he was called, grew up at Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, where he excelled in rodeo and wrestling. After leaving Boys Ranch, he served on board the USS Hornet, where he participated in the recovery of the first three Apollo moon capsules. He was the father of two children, Dustin C. Rodgers and Alisha Rodgers. Wesley enjoyed working the National Finals Rodeo for many years in Las Vegas. More recently, Wes enjoyed driving his cab and traveling with his wife, Bobbie, and the company of their cats and silky terriers.
Survivors include his children, grandchildren, brothers David and Kenneth, sisters Brenda and Ginger, and many friends and relatives.
Eugene C. Martin
Amarillo Globe-News, July 2, 2010Eugene C. Martin, 74, of Amarillo died Wednesday, June 30, 2010.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home Benton Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive, with the Rev. Bryan Vallance officiating. Burial will be in Cal Farley's Boys Ranch Cemetery.
Mr. Martin was born Aug. 31, 1935, in Canadian. He was a graduate of Boys Ranch High School.
Gene's life work and love was driving a truck on the open road. He often scheduled his runs to destinations that also would allow him to visit family members across the country. He loved driving so much that even after his retirement, he pursued his passion for driving by driving a bus for Durham Transportation.
Mr. Martin was a member of Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church. He loved spending time with his granddaughters who were truly the loves of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lynn Martin; and a stepson, Samuel Smiddy.
Survivors include a daughter, Pamela Putman and husband Roger of Lone Oak; a son, David Hughes of Hermleigh; three granddaughters, Nikki Weiss and husband Chris, Teagan Smiddy and Cayla Johnston, all of Amarillo; a grandson, Christopher O. Ray of Amarillo; a special companion, Deborah Selby of Amarillo; a great-granddaughter, Bostyn Weiss of Amarillo; four brothers, Kenneth Martin of Beaumont, Arthur Martin and wife Inga of Colorado Springs, Colo., Leslie Martin and wife Cindy of Sadler and Larry Martin of Thornton, Colo.; three sisters, Mary Ruth Jones of St. Louis, Joyce Craig and husband Victor of Arvada, Colo., and Bonita Malier of Thornton; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Roger Paul Boggs

Roger was born in the area and was raised at Cal Farley's Boys Ranch. He worked at the First Baptist Church and had been pursuing a career in nursing. He was a simple man who lived a simple life. He was known to be very kind-hearted and spent much of his time sharing his love for his Lord to others and bringing them to church. He also had a great love for singing and had a beautiful voice. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Ann Boggs.
Survivors include a daughter, Christina Boggs of Plano; a grandson, Miles Blankenship of Plano; and a brother, Gary Boggs of Amarillo.
James C. Maloy

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Cal Farley's Boys Ranch. Burial will be in Cal Farley's Boys Ranch Cemetery by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
James was born Sept. 4, 1955, in Grandfield, Okla., to James P. and Geneva Chalk Maloy.
James attended Cal Farley's Boys Ranch from 1967 to 1973, and enjoyed every minute of it. He loved being an alumni and especially loved going to the annual rodeos. He could tell stories for hours abour the ranch and the times he spent there.
James served his country in the U.S. Navy until 1976 and was proud to do so. He was a truck driver for 35 years and loved being on the road. He always said he was a lucky man, most everything in his life was a blessing.
In 1988, James married Cheryl Freeman and together they had Jennifer Maloy, the pride and joy of his life.
James lived in Amarillo most of his life and loved it. He enjoyed country music, dancing, collecting things and certainly telling stories. He loved his Peterbilt and was a "Chevy man."
James was a man who never met a stranger. Everywhere he went, he knew someone. If he didn't, he did before he left.
He will truly be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John; and a nephew, Jeff.
Survivors include two daughters, Jennifer and fiance Skyllar and their daughter Chloe, and Melissa and husband Tim, all of Amarillo; a son, Shannon and wife Hannah of Amarillo; two brothers, Jack and Joe, both of Amarillo; two sisters, Kathryn of Lake Dallas and Linda of Modesto, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
Steve Donald Landtroop
Amarillo Globe-News, Nov. 15, 2011Steve Donald Landtroop, 48, of Amarillo died Nov. 10, 2011.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Boys Ranch Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
He was born March 7, 1963, in Amarillo to Don and Evelyn Landtroop. He has an older sister, Darby Mozelle, who resides in the Pacific Northwest, and a younger half sister, who was born Donnelle Landtroop and lives in Louisiana.
Mr. Landtroop worked as an electrician, a truck driver and for the city of Amarillo. All his life, those who knew him best spoke often of his kind and generous nature. He was a sweet, tender-hearted and forgiving soul who, in spite of many crushing difficulties, was always quick with a smile and a joke. He was always generous and rarely ever said no to a request for help.
He often would give even when the person asking was better off than him. He was a gift on loan from God and will be sorely missed.
Gerald Calahan
Amarillo Globe-News, March 16, 2012Gerald Calahan, 76, resident of Amarillo, passed away on March 13, 2012 due to cancer. Thru out his illness he always maintained a good attitude.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. with Jeff Messer, Chaplain for the Lee Bivins Foundation officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Cal Farley's Boys Ranch Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Gerald Calahan was born October 28, 1935 on a farm outside Simsboro, LA to Prentice and Lillian Calahan. He graduated from Simsboro High School and in 1953 he entered college at Louisiana Tech at Ruston, LA. In 1956, he was employed by Phillips Petroleum in the Texas Panhandle area. While with Phillips he learned to fly and earned a commercial pilots license. He was called into the Army in 1957-58 and again in 1961-62. After each tour he returned to Phillips and worked there until he began his career with Trans World Airlines as a commercial pilot on February 10, 1964. He flew both prop planes and heavy jets in the U.S., Europe, Asia, Africa and Vietnam. He retired from TWA on November 1, 1992. It was while working for TWA that he met his wife who also worked for TWA as a stewardess. Both worked for TWA a combined 60 years.
Upon retirement both Gerald (Jerry) and Rareen settled in Amarillo, Texas in 1993. A few years prior to his death he had a desire to come out of retirement and drive an 18 wheeler. He was given that opportunity for which he was grateful. He was a hardworker, had an old time sense for good work ethics and was a man of integrity. He had varied interests which included RVing to points out west as well as keeping abreast of the innovations of solar energy and hybrid vehicles. One of his favorite things to do was to drive his 1929 model A Ford. His ultimate goal was to drive Route 66 to California. He was a Baptist and believed deeply in the Lord.
He is survived by his wife Rareen and their dog "Lucky", and a sister, Mavis Calahan of Shreveport, LA.

Sharon Grimes Lindquist

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Cal Farley's Boys Ranch Chapel with Mike Wilhelm officiating. Burial will be in Cal Farley's Boys Ranch Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Sharon was born July 5, 1963, to William H. and Ann Krumsick Grimes. In 1965, she was baptized by Dr. Henry Barnett of Paseo Presbyterian Church in Kansas City, Mo.
Sharon attended TASIS in Lugano, Switzerland, from 1979 to 1980. She graduated in 1982 from St. Mary's Academy in Englewood, Colo. She attended Baker University in Baldwin, Kan., from 1982 to 1984. She was a member of Phi Mu sorority. She graduated with a degree in accounting from Barnes Business College in Denver.
Sharon married Randy Lindquist on Oct. 6, 1984, in Colombine United Church in Littleton, Colo. They had two children, Rachel Lindquist, BSN, RN, who was born in 1989 and Alex Lindquist, born in 1992, who is a senior at West Texas A&M University.
Sharon and her husband have been with Cal Farley's Boys Ranch for the past 15½ years. Sharon most recently worked as a day care assistant at Carter Day Care Center, helping care for babies.
Sharon and Randy have travelled extensively in Europe, Asia, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand. They have shared and enjoyed researching their family heritages. One of Sharon's collections was cookbooks and recipes from around the world.
She was preceded in death by her father, William H. Grimes, in 2008.
Survivors include her husband, Randy L. Lindquist; two children, Rachel Lindquist and Alex Lindquist, both of Amarillo; her mother, Ann Krumsick Grimes of Overland Park, Kan.; a brother, Glenn R. Grimes and wife Gii and their two children, Ryan and Emily of Sri Lanka; her mother-in-law, Zada S. Hamilton and husband Francis G. of Amarillo; her father-in-law, Lester L. Lindquist and wife Ann of Norwich, England; and her stepmother, Beatriz Grimes and her children Maya Fasthoff, Fabio and Rick Celeita of Houston.

Carroll Powell
Amarillo Globe-News, Jan. 28, 2013Carroll Powell, 72, of Amarillo died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013.
Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Cal Farley's Boys Ranch. Services will be follow at 3 p.m. in Saint Stephen United Methodist Church with Dr. Stan Cosby, the Rev. Ken Cole and Terri Powell, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St.
Caroll was born Oct. 23, 1940, in Lubbock to Bryant and Florice Smith Powell. He was raised in Abernathy, where he played football, ran track and developed many lifelong friends. He attended West Texas State University and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in art and physical education.
Fifty years to the day, he married Wanda Ryan on Jan. 26, 1963, in Ralls. It did not take them long to get to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch in the summer of 1964.
Mr. Powell was hired as a wrestling coach and art teacher. He fulfilled Cal Farley's dream of having a successful wrestling program, bringing two state championships in 1968 and 1969, and many individual champions. He was inducted into the Texas Interscholastic Wrestling Association Hall of Honor in 1997.
He spent more than 30 years at Boys Ranch, investing in young men doing everything from teaching kids how to swim, designing the roughrider for the BR brand and chaperoning proms, just to name a few.
Carroll was an accomplished Western artist in oil, acrylic, watercolor and bronze. His work was exhibited in shows throughout Texas, New Mexico, Arkansas and the capitol building in Washington, D.C.
Carroll never met a stranger and knew someone wherever he went. He loved spending hours visiting and sharing stories with childhood friends, his Boys Ranch family, the Wesley workers Sunday school class and gym friends.
He was preceded in death by his golf buddies, Ed Bawcom in 2006 and Gerald Watson in 2012.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Powell of Amarillo; a daughter, Terri Powell of Amarillo; a son, Barry Powell and wife Jazan of Dallas; a granddaughter, Harper Powell of Dallas; two brothers, Reg Powell of Hot Springs, Ark., and Dale Powell of Abernathy; a sister, Kay Carter of Ruidoso, N.M.; and many nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials be to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch Alumni Association or Children's Building Fund at Saint Stephen United Methodist Church.
The family will receive guests from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Martha Lynne Hardin
Star-Telegram, Jan. 19, 2014Martha Lynne Hardin, 74, daughter, friend, teacher and mentor extraordinaire, passed away Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014.
Memorial service: 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at Ash Creek Baptist Church, 300 S. Stewart St., Azle. Interment: at Boys Ranch next to her loving parents, Martha and Jack.
Lynne was born to Martha and Jack Hardin on Feb. 27, 1939, in Sherman. She lived in Azle for over 25 years. Her early childhood was spent as the first girl at Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, where her mother, Martha, was the first teacher and her father, Jack, the first ranch manager. The freedom to seek adventure and experience new ideas and miles of open plains instilled an attitude of independence, commitment and exuberance for life. Lynne brought these traits to every phase of her life, from the basketball court, to horseback riding, to studies at Texas Woman's University in Denton, to painting, to music and over 40 years in the classroom, all done with her distinct style. Armed with a master's degree in chemistry, she began her career with Mobile R&D Corp. researching tertiary recovery of crude oil. By 1965 the call of the classroom led her to Tarleton State University and then to the University of Texas at Arlington to teach chemistry. She found her home classroom at Tarrant County College Northwest Campus and spent over 30 years sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm for chemistry with thousands of students. She was a challenging, caring and compelling professor. Throughout her life she made countless friends and touched many lives with her beautiful smile, readiness to help, sharp wit and caring heart.
Survivors: Cousin, Lawrence and his wife, Janie; their daughter, Julie; and their grandson, Jack, of Columbia, Mo., and Leawood, Kan.; and stepmother, Joyce Hardin.
